Possible Delays Due to Urgent SH1 Repairs
Wednesday December 4th 10.00am
The Christmas rush has finally kicked in with volumes spiking across the business this week.
Although we are well geared up to cope, we have some challenges that are issues outside of our control and may cause slight delays to deliveries travelling up and down through central North Island.
Transport New Zealand are currently undertaking repairs to the Mangaharakeke Stream bridge in the Atiamuri district north of Taupo, requiring all heavy vehicles to use alternative routes off SH 1 during the night. The alternative routes delay our linehaul network in both directions by at least an hour which has the downstream effect of late arrivals into branches.
Freight travelling on the two day linehaul service between islands may also potentially be effected if the delays cause vehicles to miss their ferry connections between Wellington and Picton.
We are doing all we can to mitigate delivery delays but until this remedial work on the bridge is completed over the next 10 days, there will be ongoing issues.
We thank you for your patience in what is already a challenging time of year, but please be aware of this if you are concerned about any delivery delays.
